Out of School
Our Out of School Care (OSC) originated at Jennyswell Nursery, and has been operating for over 19 years. Through our adherence to ensuring quality, value for money childcare and with support from parents, we opened afterschool care at Lochfield Primary school, Quarry Road, Paisley, PA2 7RD at the beginning of 2000. We opened our second facility a couple of years later within Todholm Primary school, Lochfield Rd., Paisley PA2 7JE.
We initiated a playscheme for the summer of 2003, which got the ‘thumbs up’ our parents and children. Since then, based on demand, each year we ran our playscheme during the spring, summer and October school breaks and will endeavour to continue this service.
Further to feedback from our service users, our breakfast club in Todholm commenced in August 2013 and more recently in Lochfield Primary in 2019. We currently do a pick up service for aftercare only from St Charles where spaces allow!
The OSC is open to all primary aged children, regardless of school.
Children will be met by our staff, who are
fully vetted in accordance with Disclosure Scotland and the Scottish
Social Services Council. The OSC is registered with the Care
Inspectorate and are inspected on a regular basis.

The manager of the OSC service is Kelly Wilson and she can be contacted on jennyswellasc@gmail.com or on the Todholm/Lochfield mobile number above.
In her absence please contact Elaine Murray, Jennyswell Nursery Manager, on 0141 887 1930.
Kelly has worked in childcare for over 24 years and is qualified to BA level. She has worked within the Out of School Care service for the last 5.5 years. Kelly worked in Jennyswell for 16 years before leaving in 2016 to pursue other avenues. She returned in December 2018 to begin the role of manager within the OSC service.
Jennyswell staff work with the children to provide a stimulating range of activities that offer fun, challenge and engagement in activities throughout our Out of School Services. Children’s ideas and suggestions are taken forward through our use of mind-mapping and staff use these to plan different activities every week. Children can choose from a wide variety of equipment that is on offer on a daily basis. We use self-selection units to allow the children to change equipment and also to see what equipment is on offer for them. Our resources cupboard is located near our OSC room, so staff are able to rotate the equipment as much as necessary. Children can choose from arts and crafts, construction, den building, floor play, imaginative play and technology / ICT to name a few!
Children within the schools can access physical play by using the gym hall and playground for a range of activities. We have a wide range of physical equipment from bats and balls to parachutes, badminton and hurdles. All of our children are given this opportunity on a daily basis. We have water dispensers within the room which allows us to encourage children to drink and hydrate while we engage in our activities!
We consult with parents, staff and children over resources and equipment, to keep our equipment up to date and relevant for the children within our care and recognise that children have their own opinions and ideas for the OSC. We promote a Pupil Council where children can become involved in the running of the service and make changes. This allows them a voice within our service and respects their right to do so!
Unless advised otherwise, fees will be reviewed annually in April.
